Hall, Larsen Named to 2025 NFF Hampshire Honor Society

GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina University football student-athletes Dustyn Hall and Luke Larsen have been named to the 2025 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, as announced Wednesday by the NFF and College Football Hall of Fame.

Hall and Larsen were among a record-setting 2,532 players from 339 schools nationwide to earn the distinction, recognizing academic excellence combined with collegiate football careers of notable impact.

The honor society, now in its 19th year, includes players from all divisions of NCAA and NAIA football who have completed their eligibility—or graduated with eligibility remaining but opted not to return—and maintained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.20 throughout their college careers.

Larsen becomes just the second Pirate in program history to earn NFF Honor Society membership twice, joining Jeremy Lewis (2023-24). He and Hall now bring ECU’s all-time total of honorees to 21, a list that includes former standouts such as Zay Jones, Jake Verity, Blake Proehl, and Alex Flinn.

Dustyn Hall: From USF to ECU, a Rock on the Offensive Line

A five-year collegiate letterwinner, Hall played in 55 career games, making 50 starts across two schools. He transferred from South Florida to ECU and went on to start 25 consecutive games for the Pirates from 2023 through 2024, including 13 starts at center this past season.

Hall, who graduated from USF with a degree in criminology and is now pursuing a master’s in criminal justice, was instrumental in anchoring an ECU offensive line that helped the team average 436.4 yards per game—ranking 24th nationally—and 32.0 points per game. His work paved the way for five 100-yard rushing games by Rahjai Harris and 49 total offensive touchdowns.

A 2024 College Football Network Honorable Mention selection and six-time game captain, Hall logged 911 snaps at center last season alone and was named Third Team Preseason All-AAC by Athlon Sports.

Luke Larsen: Precision and Consistency in the Punt Game

Larsen, a four-year letterman and native of Australia, appeared in 43 games for ECU and ranks second all-time in net punting average (38.55) while standing eighth in overall average (40.8 ypp). In 2024, he punted 52 times for 2,123 yards, with 15 punts landing inside the 20-yard line and 22 being fair caught.

Larsen is a six-time ECU Director of Athletics Honor Roll honoree and has earned four selections to the AAC All-Academic Team. After earning his undergraduate degree in industrial distribution, he began pursuing an MBA at ECU in fall 2023.

He was also recognized as the STEM Scholar-Athlete at the 2024 Go Bowling Military Bowl and named to Ray Guy’s “8” list following a standout performance against Appalachian State.

ECU's Continued Academic and Athletic Balance

With Hall and Larsen’s inclusion, ECU continues its tradition of producing well-rounded student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom.
