Josh Aldridge Embracing Leadership Role in First Spring with ECU Football
GREENVILLE— In just his fourth spring practice as East Carolina’s new defensive coordinator, Josh Aldridge is already encouraged by the culture he's stepped into.
“This doesn’t feel like ground zero,” Aldridge said. “The culture’s pretty stinking good already.”
Aldridge emphasized his top priority this spring is setting and upholding the program’s standard in preparation and practice while evaluating what his personnel does best. He praised the defensive line—highlighting returners like Zion Wilson and Preston—calling their early development a pleasant surprise. Linebackers Sam Dankah and Teagan Wilk were also noted for their leadership and adaptability in the new system.
Aldridge, who has coached under names like DJ Durkin and Scott Symons, spoke about adapting schemes to fit the strengths of his roster, especially as he installs a new defensive identity.
“We have to be good enough coaches to put our players in the best situation,” Aldridge said.
